October 31, 2022 (Boulder, CO) - It was a tidy team performance in the CPL Semifinals. The most important requirement was to keep the clean sheet and we did this with vigor. We also created multiple chances in front of goal during the run of play and off of set pieces. Man of the Match Jaime Gutierrez struck first and led the line well. Bro of the Match Bailey Heller marshalled our defense and Banter of the Match Ade Akinsanya used his savvy experience to keep everyone in check. It finished 2-0. Now we march onto the CPL Final vs Colorado Rovers on November 6 at 1:30pm at Victoria Sports Park. Have a Happy Halloween and let’s finish the job!
Time for Semifinals
October 24, 2022 (Boulder, CO) - We have enjoyed being back in the Colorado Premier League. As the regular fall season wraps up, we find ourselves undefeated 6-0-2 at the top of the table, and ready to jump straight into the Playoffs. Our Semifinals opponent is confirmed as Boulder United. We are familiar foes and look forward to a hard charging match on Sunday, October 30 at 1:00pm MT. Come join us at Broomfield Commons as we enter the knockout phase of the competition. It’s time to take care of business together as players, coaches and fans.
We Responded Well
September 29, 2022 (Superior, CO) - Last night we played against a new team called FC Hattrick. We didn’t have a big scouting report to analyze but did expect a young, tough and motivated side. This is exactly what we discovered from the kickoff. However, our squad was up to the challenge, and we responded well after an Open Cup setback and a few weeks off due to inclement weather. We missed a chance early on but didn’t let it affect us and scored only minutes later. Thereafter the standard was set and the flurry of goals and quality of interchangeable play was relentless. The final score was 13-0. Man of the Match Jaime Gutierrez had 4 goals and 1 assist. Bro of the Match Connor Wharton had 2 goals and 1 assist. Now we’re back to winning ways and ready to put together a consistent run of top form together.
A Missed Opportunity
September 19, 2022 (Denver, CO) - We were drawn to face our Colorado Classico opponent FC Denver in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Tournament 1st Round on September 17. Our match was played under the lights at their host site of Northfield High School just up the street from the Colorado Rapids home of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Our squad had prepared well and seemed ready to ball out. However, we got it wrong as a coaching staff and playing squad. The first half performance was arguably one of the worst in Harpos history and it warranted a dressing down followed by a pick me up to raise spirits and standards. The second half performance with some substitutions and tactical changes enabled smarter possession and a much better run of play, but there were way too many mistakes and missed chances. It finished 2-1. Well done to them on executing their game plan. This result leaves us very disappointed and frustrated, but it wasn’t our night. We wish our familiar foe and all other teams nationally the best of luck with their remaining qualifiers this autumn. Despite this setback, we will continue to live, learn and push onwards & upwards together!
Preparation is Everything
August 15, 2022 (Boulder, CO) - Summer break has been enjoyable but it felt great to get back on the pitch together. Preseason preparations are underway with core, lots of new bros and trialists. It’s exciting to welcome fresh energy, legs and quality to our club. Scrimmages are upcoming vs Colorado School of Mines ranked #20 in NCAA D2, Colorado Rapids Academy and Real Colorado MLS Next teams. Once these conclude, our focus shifts to League win and Open Cup qualification, which are our priorities. LFG!!
